So you won’t miss your requested email

Thank you for subscribing to The Merrill Project.

I love having you here.

If you aren’t familiar with the term ‘whitelisting’ let me explain…

Many email providers and Internet companies are using filters, programs and systems to block unwanted email (spam).

Which we all appreciate since spam is no fun. At all. For any of us.

The problem, however, is that these filtering programs and ‘blacklists’, being good but far from perfect, sometimes block emails of content that we’ve requested, such as subscriptions we sign up for, or information on a product that we want to learn more about.

The way that we combat the blacklist is by building our own whitelist of the emails we want to be sure to receive.

Whitelist The Merrill Project before your delivery is interrupted. It only takes a moment.

It’s (usually) a very simple process. If you’ve added some additional filters or blocks to your own system, you can simply contact the customer support department for the specifics on how to whitelist. (Or it may be answered in a simple Google or YouTube search.)

Otherwise, I’ll walk you through some of the most popular email systems below:

If you have Gmail there are 2 steps:
1. In your inbox, find the email from charisse@themerrillproject.com (the welcome email for your subscription or the product you just purchased)
2. Two choices here – either drag the email to the Primary folder…or check the box by the email then click the folder at the top and choose the Move option and select Primary as the folder you want to move it to.

If you have Mac Mail there are 8 steps:
1. Click Mail.
2. Click Preferences.
3. Click Rules. (Top Right)
4. Click Add Rule.
5. In the Description Box, type: Rule.
6. The next two lines need to read: If any of the following conditions are met:
From Contains: (type the sender’s email in the box beside Contains: charisse@themerrillproject.com email address)
7. The next two lines need to read: Perform the following actions:
Move Message to mailbox: Inbox
8. Click OK

If you have Yahoo there are 3 steps:
1. Click the + sign by the sender’s name (when you open the email)
2. An Add to Contacts pop up will appear.
3. Click Save.

If you have Outlook 2003 or later there are 3 steps:
1. In your inbox, right click on the message (of the email address you want to whitelist, in this case charisse@themerrillproject.com email address) and a menu will appear.
2. Select Junk Mail (another dropdown will appear)
3. Click Add Sender to Safe Senders List.

And that’s all there is to it. You did it! You successfully white-listed our email address and now your delivery won’t be interrupted.
